Both were a big hit. Beans, mac and cheese, potato salad and coleslaw also excellent. We were so happy with them we hired them for another event, this time a dinner at our home for about 40. Went with pretty much the same food. Again the food was outstanding. On both occasions they showed up exactly when they said they would and had everything we needed. I spoke with Christy Mynar who was prompt in her responses via text and email. She set us up with a great order and everything was very simple to process. The day of the event, we had two people who setup everything for us and served our party. They were both professional and friendly . The food was amazing and more than enough to serve our entire party with leftovers for us to take home. Honestly, the entire experience deserves 5 stars and we will definitely use their service again in the near future for Christ and Cars Ministry. I first talked to the owner Christy and she had great customer service & really made me want to use their catering services for my baby shower. I had a country themed baby shower so I was looking for barbecue catering in Orange County. The owner responds fast & has great communication skills. It really makes a difference if you throw a party you know how time really does matter. The barbecue food was delivered on time & I got many compliments from my guests on the taste and quality of the bbq. We got the catering for 60 guests. Total was about $1600 over all which is decent for the food. It came with napkins, plates, utensils, sauces, butter & honey packets. Which did help a lot!! The only thing I would have to say is the cornbread was a little dry and nobody really ate it. I asked her in the beginning because I'm huge on the cornbread if honey could be added so it wouldn't be dry and she said chef said no. Richard Jones is a staple in Santa Ana and has been in business for decades in OC when the owner moved from Texas and started providing the community with his smoked BBQ. Yes, they smoke their meat, I asked to see their smokers. First, the owners and staff that run this business are very kind and really easy to work with. They can do this in their sleep, and run a great ship for large events. This BBQ is perfect for just that. We are having a small wedding and are looking for a particular style and taste. A few weeks ago, we ordered a six-person family-style meal for pick-up to try with our friends. The food is good, but we just wanted the wedding quality we wanted. The chicken appeared to be frozen breast cutlets smoked, and the sides were okay! I called to schedule the date and order the food and Christy was very helpful and got everything set in a matter of minutes. The week before the party we needed to move the delivery back an hour and they handled the change with no problem. The food was delivered and set up right on time. We got brisket, chicken, Mac n cheese, corn and bbq beans. Everything was delicious and there was more than enough food to feed the crowd, send a bunch home and feed our family for most of the next week. I'd probably cut the food back to 45 for 50 cuz we had a lot of extra food . But better safe than sorry . All my guests loved the food . The brisket was totally a hit ! Falls apart and delicious . I ordered baby back ribs , macaroni and cheese , chicken for 25 and then cut in half to make 50 pieces, Veggie kabobs , pasta salad , pulled pork . If I had to do it over , I'd pass on the baby back ribs but all my guests liked everything . My favorite was the brisket , rolls, beans , and I added myself fruit bowls . Everyone has a great time . I opted for full service with 2 servers but ended up with 3 . I thought they told me their job was to serve my guests and cleanup , which they did but I would have appreciated them going to the tables and asking if everything was ok and if they wanted anything else . Ribs were the best, and loved the beans, scalloped potatoes, and corn. But as important as the food was the wonderful service. The brisket was as good as I have ever had. Pork spareribs amazing. Great barbecue chicken. Baked beans, the macaroni and cheese awesomeness, we had a salad that I can't comment on because I was too stuffed before I got to it (might have been from eating too many rolls and butter). They delivered on time, and got everything set up perfectly. The only complaint I have, is that although they supply plastic utensils, plates, napkins etc, we ran out of plates and forks before everyone was served. From the Smoked Tri-Tip and Ribs to the Texas Beans and Bake Potatoes. It's funny with all that great food my wife was struck most by the baked potatoes, there was some flavor or the way they were baked. For me the Smoked Tri-Tip was perfect, just the right amount of smoke and sooo tender. Oh yeah they drove all the way out to Hemet to deliver and set up. The beans and potatoes are to die for and the slaw is not drowned in dressing. The box is meant for 4 people but you could feed 5 or 6 off the box we got. They also supplied the plates, napkins,forks and all the utensils to serve the food. They do deliver but I picked up our order directly from them and it was very easy to pick up. I was very impressed with the exceptional customer service that was received. Prior to the event, there was a lot of communication with Christie, Marcia, Pancho from the company., The allowed us to come and taste the items we had chosen for our party without commitment or being pushy of having to go with them. When we first put in our catering order we only had reserved food for 300 guest and a week prior we had over 500, and they were very accommodating as well as letting us know different options for children and vegetarian servings. The day of the event, the staff arrived at the zoo ahead of time and was very patient while we had other vendors in their designated area. There as a brief meeting about how tables were going to be set, how hotdogs were only for children, and they hid the veggie options so that they would not be taken. Our team did not need to do anything!Bree (I believe that was her name) was on it, down to making sure the portions were properly served. The whole catering staff was very professional and polite and they even helped clear food from tables. They were extremely professional from the very beginning (I was in contact with both Pancho and Christy for almost a whole year), they answered every question I had whether it was via phone call or email and made booking them a clear choice. Food was so delicious for a reasonable price. EVERYONE at the wedding raved about the food. We had lots of leftovers because they give you generous portions of food. My wedding coordinator even said that she had never worked with any catering who served a group of 100+ people in under 25 minutes. Good catering was one of my top priorities for my wedding, thank you Richard Jones for making it happen!! This was a multicultural wedding (guests not expecting american BBQ) everyone including the new mother in law raved about the foods.These are people from the hospitality industry. We also rented chairs from them for our ceremony and they transferred them into our reception hall once the ceremony was over. The food was so delicious; all of our guests loved it and had nothing but nice things to say about the staff. Ultimately, we wanted something easy, affordable, but most importantly DELICIOUS. Richard Jones BBQ exceeded ALL our expectations and then some. We had a small backyard wedding of approx. 75 people. We ordered smoked beef brisket, smoked chicken, homemade mashed potatoes, coleslaw, baked rolls and mac&cheese (yessss). It was a quick and easy drop off right after we were married and a variety of our friends transported the food to nice serving platters for self serving style. My husband and I had a food tasting with Pancho and he was very informative and answered all of our questions. When it got closer to the wedding I spoke with Marcia and Pancho and they were both very helpful with finalizing the menu and timeline for serving. I really appreciate the great communication! We had tri tip, chicken breast, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, vegetables and Caesar salad on our menu. So my conscience has been mentally kicking my ass for not getting around to giving them a much deserved review. I suppose I can't keep this one as my own secret any longer. I did a cost benefit analysis and I'd rather have a busy Richard Jones than the alternative. Sometime around 2014 my husband and I stumbled across Richard Jones to cater our Christmas dinner, and we were SO glad we did. Everyone raved about it, it was absolutely delicious. At least in So Cal I don't come across many authentic brisket or BBQ establishments if at all, and definitely not of this caliber. EVERYONE at our party asked us where the food was from and couldn't stop raving about it. It didn't end there, people were asking if they could take plates home! I made my husband promise me we could order a batch just for ourselves after the party. Since then it's been a holiday tradition of ours to get Richard Jones: Christmas, Easter and other get togethers. Every time I'm in a pinch, they are able to accommodate me. The food is amazing and the leftovers get even better the next day (and you can't beat the price). The staff is so kind Marsha and a younger man is always so friendly and helpful- you can really tell they're good people. I'm the person that checks every order before I leave because when I don't, it's almost always missing something. In the last four years they haven't goofed once. I ordered brisket, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and coleslaw. Everyone RAVED about the food, I wish I had more business cards to give because everyone was asking where all this delicious food came from! People kept coming back for seconds, thirds and a lot of guests took food to go. Everything was easy to organize and set up was easy since the food came with plates, napkins, utensils and serving utensils. All I had to do was buy a couple of food warmers. Service was excellent, they were extremely helpful and accommodating. I have never ordered catered food before but they made the process extremely easy. The bride is vegan and they accommodated her dietary requirements by making sure they used olive oil on the green beans, potatoes, and vegetable kabobs. We ordered the cheese/cracker/fruit plates, bacon wrapped dates (YUM), smoked chicken breast, smoked beef brisket, they set aside lettuce with vegan dressing for the bride. Hahha) I was super impressed with the nice staff emailed with via yelp, That i talked to on the phone and that delivered the food! They called and promptly on the Monday prior to my sons 1st birthday and confirmed everything. Arrived on time and the food was hot. I have my own large chaffing dishes I put their food in because I wanted them to deliver way before the guest arrived so I could organize it the way I like to do my layouts. They were just all so nice! I really appreciate that in any company. You can tell it is genuine. I am sure I will have people asking me for their number all the time! Thanks so much!!! Marina M.24 September 2017These guys are so awesome! Richard Jones BBQ catered our wedding last weekend, and everyone was raving about the food the entire time! Everyone I spoke with at the company was super friendly and helpful, and they were super patient with me when I was asking a million questions and changing things. We had: Tri-Tip Pulled Pork Green Beans with Roasted Almonds Mashed Potatoes and Gravy Rolls Every single dish was absolutely wonderful, and our guests were clamoring for seconds. According to the groom, the tri-tip was tender and wonderful (I couldn't have any unfortunately since it's medium-rare and I'm expecting), the pulled pork was delicious, and the mashed potatoes were some of the best I've had. Their catering services were incredibly affordable, and even with the mileage charge to drive from Orange County to IDYLLWILD, and the fee for having under 100 guests, they were still $250 cheaper than a catering quote we received from a local caterer! And to top it off, although I was told that their servers would be unable to set out our cocktail hour foods that were purchased elsewhere (totally understandable), they did it for us anyway, and cleared plates from our guests when they were done as well! We had a very easy time with all of the menu choices, the meetings, tastings, making changes etc. They were very gracious with all of my requests and questions, in short the customer service I received from everyone at their office was great! The food though. Guys I ate all the leftovers I could in the days following, and then I froze what I still had to be eaten later because i didn't want to waste a thing! Their plating was lovely, the staff was so kind- at the cocktail hour they actually came down the walk to meet guests walking up with appetizers. Bells W.30 April 2017Richard Jones catered lunch at my company last week and the food was SO BOMB!!!! Every single item was literally a hit and my coworkers and I couldn't stop raving about how delicious the food was. The portions were enormous and we had leftovers for the 2-3 days. BREAD ROLLS- extremely fresh and doughy and the individual butter packs are high quality. There were a ton of these- I even took a couple home to keep in my fridge and they still taste fresh three days later once I microwave them. THE BREAD IS SO GOOODDDD MAC N CHEESE- CRACK N CHEESE!!! So epic.The top layer is crisped with a thick, gooey, decadent, cheesy inside. Though the food was plentiful, there were no leftovers of the mac n cheese as everyone in my office ate heaps of this and it was all gone after lunch. CHICKEN BREAST- not usually a fan of chicken breast because of its dry texture and bland taste but GOT DAMN these were so juicy and marinated perfectly (not too strong). Even popping it in the microwave and eating it a few days later, it was still so tender and yummy. BRISKET- really tender and grilled to perfection. The meat is juicy and it slides off with the light touch of a knife. Delicious. GREEN BEANS- I think these had a lot of garlic in them? So fragrant and tasty. I'm sure people who don't enjoy veggies would even like this. STEAMED VEGGIE MEDLEY- a mix of cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots. Wasn't bland at all- they made this taste really good and lightly seasoned to go well with the meats. I was also told that the price was great. This really is the whole package. We ordered the brisket, ribs, and chicken, and a few side dishes. It's hard to say which dish was best because they were all a big hit and very different from the others. The service was fantastic. We ordered at the last minute with only a day notice and they got it done! They arrived for delivery exactly when they said they would and the woman who delivered was very quick, professional, and warm. The pricing was very fair and reasonable and you definitely get more food than what you expect. I am so glad we had everything catered and could just enjoy our guests. Gabby H.9 August 2016This review is late...but worth the wait! I got married in April and Richard Jones BBQ was our caterer. We knew we wanted delicious BBQ and had tastings at a few other places. But we were never impressed. On a whim, I emailed Richard Jones and scheduled a tasting. And we were blown away! Christy was so friendly and the food is GOOD! And the price...weddings in Orange County are not inexpensive and it was just scary reading some other quotes. We were so pleasantly surprised to get the quote from Richard Jones. We ended up getting our rentals (tables, chairs, fancier tableware) from them as well and it was all super affordable. They do not provide alcohol, but Christy recommended a bar/bartender service that also gets five stars! On the day of the event, my wedding coordinator raved about the Richard Jones staff. The tables looked amazing and the food was fantastic. We had apps (I missed most of them but I did have a bacon wrapped date - omg), brisket, smoked chicken, mac n cheese, salad, potatoes and sautéed veggies. All so good and fresh. It was just such a great experience. I had several wedding guests text me the next day to ask where the food was from. You can't ask for a better review then that! Gail S.22 July 2016Richard Jones catered the Celebration of Life that I had for my husband last weekend at an Event center in Anaheim. I had almost 150 people attending. The staff was so professional that I never knew they had arrived and set up. We had brisket, bone-in chicken, potato salad, lettuce salad, and mac and cheese. YUMMY!! It was all 100% delicious. I got rave reviews from my guests on the food. The staff cleared the tables when my guests were finished eating, and packed up the leftovers for me to take home. Being able to take the leftovers home impressed me because I have had other catered affairs where I could not take the leftovers home. These folks know their business and are very professional. If I could give 5+ stars I would. Professional staff, pleasure to deal with. Setup was fast, break down was great. They packaged up the leftovers and we had people arguing who got to take it home - because it was so good! I adjusted my headcount 48 hours before the event and everything went perfectly. I will definitely be using this location again for future catering events for both personal and professional. I cannot think of anything negative, only great feedback from everyone who was at the event. Technically this Yelp should count as 130 - 5 star yelps since everyone loved it. They deliver it on time and set up everything perfectly. We had gone to their office to place the order since we were kind of lost. Christy helped us and gave us an estimate of how much food to order and it just worked perfect, she was also the one that delivered and did the set up. The only complain that I have is that Marcia kept calling for me to finalize the order and make the deposit, even though they required only two days before the event to finalize on the order. Ben R.11 April 2016We had Richard Jones cater our wedding, after a venue change had caused us to abandon our original plans (no food trucks would drive to our mountain location). After reading their reviews we tried a few BBQ places to compare. Richard Jones communicated very well and set up a private tasting for us that won us over with their food and their service. They provide everything you will need in their straightforward (and super reasonable) pricing, so you don't have to deal with the "oh it's $200 extra if you want me to set up warmers on tables" that we ran into elsewhere. We just had a delivery charge for being outside of their range, as our venue was almost 100 miles away, which again was very reasonable. They even made sure to arrange their delivery time to not drive past during our ceremony on the way to the reception area. I'm told they showed up early and got everything set up on time, but to be honest they were so unobtrusive I never even needed to talk to them. After we were done, our mountain of food had dwindled to some mounds that were all wrapped up for us to take home. We ended up with the brisket, the smoked chicken (go bone-in) and the smoked sausage, with sides of mac and cheese, coleslaw, and baked beans. We also had grilled vegetable skewers for the vegetarians. I would order them all again; we got many compliments and have enjoyed the leftovers for a while! Considering the 2 hours drive to get the food there I was amazed that it was still as great as the tasting. This was probably the vendor I was most worried about (even though they never gave me a reason to worry), just because I wanted the food to be perfect and memorable. The food was so delicious, I could hardly believe it. It was not your typical bland, reheated wedding catering food at all. The salad was crisp and fresh, the baked beans and mac and cheese were to die for, and the ribs, chicken, and beef brisket were tender, smoky, juicy, and perfect. I am still getting compliments about the food almost a month later! And in addition to the delicious grub, the customer service could not have been better. They were super communicative and flexible during the planning process, even accommodating us for a full tasting of our menu items because I am super picky! And the day-of service was also stellar. They arrived on time, set up and served without a hitch, and cleaned up quickly and efficiently. As the bride, I was distracted by guests, and all of a sudden I noticed that everything was cleaned up beautifully and the catering team was heading out the front gate! Christy was extremely professional and responsive upon initial contact. They will work with you to make sure you get the right amount of food, not too much not too little. To my surprise, the food at the wedding was even better than the tasting. During the wedding day, I barely had an appetite, but was able to dig into some leftovers the next day. It was still delicious! Our guests went back for seconds. There was still enough leftovers to feed 10 people. I will definitely use them again for all other occasions that require catering. We planned for 75 and had more than 100 people and did not run out of food. We ordered brisket, chicken, Mac and cheese, cole slaw, and beans. Everything was good but the brisket was phenomenal just like other reviews said. Everyone raved about the food. They were very helpful loading the many trays in my truck. I kept changing the time of the party but they kept accommodating and actually had the food delivered on time! The food isn't the best I've ever had, but the guests liked it and that's what matters. There was plenty of food leftover. And I mean plenty. For a party of 40, I got 8lbs of chicken, tri tip and brisket, a gallon of Mac n Cheese, salad and beans. Moist, with a nice chew, great smoke-ring, sauce on the side. Brisket- one of the best I've ever eaten, savory, well rubbed, juicy and tender. Sauce good. Mac and cheese fair. Nice smokey taste with a good bark on the ribs. The pulled pork was nasty though. They use a tomato paste based sauce that drowns out the taste of the pork and smoke. Their food is still on-point, but they seem to have organizational issues. the last large order i placed (a week ago) for more than $300, i called in the day before delivery to push the delivery time to 30-mins later. when the driver came early, he returned 30-mins later with the same food. On my order previous (several months ago), I ordered the same brisket and chicken combos. The chicken arrived 30-mins late, and it was noticeably undercooked (i have a smoker, and i can tell the difference between pink undercooked and smoke-ring pink). When I called-in to resolve the issue, I wasn't charged for the chicken. as good as their food is, unfortunately, I haven't gotten an order that didn't come with a mistake yet.Posted on Yelp

We had their brisket & chicken and our guests were blown away- months after our wedding, they still comment at how good the food was. Most weddings and events have boring, bland "catering" food- not with Richard Jones! Service staff was also great as they kept the guest tables clean, were on-time, and cleaned up efficiently at the end of the wedding. As far as planning, Christy and Pancho know the catering business well and were very knowledgeable. I have used Richard Jones (RJ) for several events now and the food has consistently been delicious every time. The brisket and their bbq sauce are to die for! SERVICE: Amazing! They show up to my events on time, come cleanly dressed, set up quietly without making a big deal, are constantly on top of restocking food and keeping the buffet looking great, and tear down quickly and completely. They don't stink up your trash cans with their stuff, they don't leave a mess -in fact, I would go as far as to say you wouldn't have even known they were there. Which as an event planner or host is very important. And the best thing ever..... they pack up the leftovers for you to keep! So whatever amount of food you ordered is what you get. This business practice alone is why my clients and my family keep coming back. STAFF: Amazing! Everyone is friendly and knows their job like the back of their hand. From the person you talk to over the phone who takes your order to the people delivering your food, everyone is knowledgable and professional. They did a tasting for us so we could sample the menu items and then helped us to define a menu that everyone would love. ON A SIDE NOTE: They also allow you to order for smaller groups. So if I have to host a birthday party for a family member and there will only be 12 people or so, I can go pick up a full dinner and bring it home for us all to share. Using this catering company was honestly one of the best decisions we made throughout the whole wedding planning experience. From the very beginning, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I talked with Christy and set up a food tasting appointment. She let us test all of the food that we were interested in, and the portions were huge! It was like she had prepared an entire dinner for us. Christy always responded promptly to any questions and made the process of hiring a caterer that much easier. They truly impressed me on our wedding day. Christy called the morning of to ask if we had thought about a sweetheart table; I hadn't thought to rent an extra table for that, but she took care of it for me without a second thought! They were on time, set up the tables and chairs perfectly, and were willing to help set out the floral arrangements in addition to the rest of the set-up! The food was absolutely delicious! They provided our guests with huge portions, and we received countless compliments on the food! We had the brisket, chicken, mashed potatoes, beans, salad, and green beans with almonds. We have also used them twice for our staff Christmas Party. Richard Jones is pretty affordable, and give you a good amount of food. This review will mainly be based on last years staff Christmas party(2012). We only ordered brisket, beans and the dinner rolls. I was in charge on picking up the food, considering I wasn't told what we were picking up, I arrived and they gave me a box saying that's our order of brisket and beans. So I thanked them and went on my jolly way. Arriving back at work, my co worker asks "Where are the dinner rolls?" They only gave me this box I answered, so my supervisor called them, as she has spoke with them a lot, and they offered to drop off the rolls for us, which they came right on time before our party started. The reason why I only gave them 4 stars was because their brisket was not consistent, there were some great pieces, that were moist, juicy and heavenly, but then there were some pieces that were just extremely just fatty, it wasn't edible and made it hard on wanting to eat more. Everyone asked me to separate the good pieces from the fatty ones as they know I am the foodie among-st them. The bean's were pretty good, along with the buns which complimented the sauce from both the beans and the brisket nicely. Once I separated the meats from the fatty one's everything was delicious. I know a lot of events including us will continue to use Richard Jones BBQ for our catering as their prices are really affordable and their staff is very helpful and friendly! First of all the whole ordering process was a breeze, which we both really appreciated since we were both coming in from out of town a few days before the party. One phone call and one email and we were done - spectacular! Secondly the food was absolutely phenomenal. I was expecting it to be tasty from the reviews others had posted, but this was really something special. I've never seen people go tearing back for seconds the way they did at lunch yesterday. Also there was more than enough for everyone - even though everyone stuffed themselves we'll still be enjoying leftovers for the next few days. Everyone at the party asked for the caterer's information. I would use them again in a heartbeat. We had a terrible issue with our first caterer that resulted in us needing to find a good caterer three weeks before our wedding (stressful). Our florist recommended a few places and this was one on the top of her list. Originally barbeque wasn't the kind of food I had in mind for the wedding, but I agreed to go and do a tasting. We knew we were at the right place when we could smell delicious BBQ as we were driving into their parking lot. The food was truly amazing. Everyone there was so incredibly helpful and kind, and Christy was willing to help me with renting linens, plates, etc. I can't tell you how many compliments we received from our guests, everything from the kindness of the women working at our event, to the quantity of food options to the amazing food itself. Everyone agreed that it was the best wedding food they had ever tasted. We ordered the following: brisket, smoked chicken breast, roasted potatoes, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and a salad. My personal favorites were the chicken and the beans, it was delicious. I had to tell our guests to let us have a few minutes to eat, I didn't want to miss out!! We had a lot of leftovers and they kindly packed everything up for us and we had a beach BBQ with the leftovers the next day. Overall, I would highly, highly recommend them for any event. I know some brides will not think BBQ is classy but it was sooooo good, and there was virtually nothing left at our wedding. The staff was super helpful and so nice, if you are having an event of any kind, call them! The brisket is a must! Even for the tasting we did we went home and had left overs for like 2 days! Rob D.17 April 2012We're having a baby, soon, which is both super exciting and super freaky - so much to do, so little time. So when my wonderful sister, brother and sister-in-law wanted to throw us a baby shower at our house, in the unlandscaped back yard, it was panic time. I took the week off to get the place ready (we bought a crack house cheap, and have been fixing it up). My sis lives in another state and had no idea who to use to cater the shower, so I suggested Richard Jones, who had catered a wedding I attended and I still had their card. The catering was up to the sibs, I had no input, but on the day of, we were still scrambling to get the backyard ready after a few days of hard rain. Pancho arrives with the food - which he was only supposed to drop off - sees the chaos, and promptly jumps in to basically get the food set up! Talk about above and beyond service! Pancho left us a cooler to keep the extra food warm, and got all of our chafing dishes going, and the food laid out - again, not his job, but he was amazing. The whole yard was filled with the delicious aroma of very fresh baby back ribs, brisket and smoked sausage. We also had green salad, spanokopita and rolls. Now for the best part - the food. I am not a fan of CA brisket. It is invariably dry, even when you get it at a "bbq" joint. Not Richard Jones brisket - it was incredibly juicy and bursting with flavor, so much so that I had an equal amount of brisket as ribs, and I am a rib fanatic. The ribs were equally insane, falling off the bone, meaty, juicy, and so full of flavor that the excellent sauce was not needed, but used anyway because it is excellent. The sausage is smoked, so take the normal great kielbasa goodness and kick it up several notches, and there you go! All of our guests were stoked on the food, and everyone wanted to know where it came from. We have some Midwest transplants for friends (the Mrs. is from OH) and you could tell that they were in bbq heaven. If you need to cater any event, call Richard Jones. Their dedication to making your event perfect is unmatched, Pancho's help was instrumental, and the food is absolutely unbeatable, simply the very best bbq I have ever had, and that is the truth.Posted on Yelp

He isn't the biggest fan of BBQ but REALLY enjoyed everything they had to offer.. so we knew they must be pretty good! We had a small wedding (25-35 people) and we needed catering that would be affordable but also fit for a wedding. We didn't want to give up a really great eating experience at our wedding just because it was small. Christy is nothing short of amazing. She was so detailed and friendly, I instantly felt like I could trust her with the entire event! I didn't have many vendors but she was absolutely the best. She has such a great knack with events, especially weddings. The timing, details, and all the extras were covered. She could just read my mind sometimes, it was fantastic. The tasting was great and we were even able to bring my in-laws. We decided on the chicken breast and brisket and the usual sides/salads/bread. The food is absolutely to die for! It sounds so cheesy, but it was really the best BBQ I've ever had. I really wish they had a normal restaurant because we would eat there all the time. The day of the wedding, EVERYTHING went smoothly. She and her team played such a huge part in making my small backyard intimate wedding feel very polished and planned (which, if I were left to my own devices, wouldn't have been!) We also rented our tables and chairs from them, which really helped make the process pretty seamless. All of our guests enjoyed the food and there was PLENTY to go around, for seconds and thirds. They really do a great job making sure you're not left with hungry guests which is crucial! Arlene R.14 June 2011This is strictly a catering company. The food was very good. He ordered 40 portions for 40 adults and it was the perfect amount of food. Yes our friends are piggies. Menu: beef brisket - moist and tender baby back ribs-very flavorful. Didn't even need additional sauce. Super tasty (my favorite of the 2 meats) Mashed potatoes and gravy - didn't taste homemade but, not sure... Green beans with almonds - kind of a sour taste but, still good Green salad - super crisp and fresh (even the next day) BBQ beans - sweet side but good Rolls and butter They'll even set up a tasting to finalize your choices. Elle B.26 March 2011We took a chance at having a fancy barbecue for our wedding...and we're so lucky to have found the right people to do it. Richard Jones Pit BBQ is one of the most thorough, professional, and knowledgeable catering services we've ever worked with. They've been in business over 20 years, so they know a thing or two about parties. Oh yeah, and they make great food too!! We hired Richard Jones Pit BBQ to cater our wedding at the Pasadena City Hall. (For anyone who has not been there... it is a gorgeous outdoor venue in a courtyard underneath the stars. To put on an event there, you have to bring in outside services for EVERYTHING. Nothing is provided for you). Onward... Richard Jones Pit BBQ managed everything for us. Not just the food, but also the rentals for all of our tables, chairs, dance floor, bar, down to the last dessert fork. Christy Mynar, their event planner/catering manager was an absolute godsend. Here's why I liked them so much: 1) Christy came out in person three times before the wedding (at my request) to the venue just to go over changes in table layout (she was on-time, during rush hour, all the way from Santa Ana, every time). 2) Super-friendly, warm, and courteous service. Our guests complimented us on how attentive the caterers were. 3) Food was cooked on-site on their big bbq grills, not precooked at another location, then trucked over. The aroma of the steaks, shrimp and salmon during the cocktail hour really got our guests excited. 4) Their pricing is super-reasonable. Super reasonable. Especially for the type of food (rib-eye, jumbo shrimp, and salmon) and for the level of service they provide. 5) Complete service from start to finish. They really took care of us during the initial tastings. They answered all their emails and returned phone calls quickly. They set up and served magically, like they've been doing it all their lives. They cut and served our cake (from another vendor), without charging an extra cutting fee per slice. When they clean up...they really clean up. You never even realized a party took place. 6) Here's a bonus: On the day of, the bartender we hired was one hour late. Richard Jones pulled one of their staff to jump in and fill in for the bartender so that our cocktail hour could get started on time. No extra charge. Amazing. 7) The best BBQ beans in the universe!! Give em a call. They're good people. They don't try to nickel and dime you for every little thing. You can just tell they love what they do and they want to make sure your party goes off flawlessly.
